Several quotes from coach:

Defense is the key to win! Learn from our previous match – number 10 from NP. Under any circumstances, he is just able to get the ball in to the hoop! Now what we have to learn from this team is that the ball is being passed to him. So, since he has a higher chance to score, why not? Since he is open, why not? Setting up a play again might stop his momentum, so just pass the ball to him when he is free. Nevertheless, another player might a scorer too, but since another player has his momentum there, why not send the ball to him? After all, it’s the win that we all hoped for but not personal achievements – fame. For your own achievement, you might lose the match and earn yourself the best loser – well it’s still a lost!

Personal thoughts - what he said has several “loopholes” but he could be asking us to be more optimistic. Oh, I just realized I’ve become more optimistic, influence I guess. This feels good, because it’s easier to pick up again.

I had a conversation with a friend previous night about team matters - shan’t post it in details because it’s rather sensitive. Well, like I’ve mentioned previously, make your opportunity worth, if chances are given to you why not showcase yourself? However, this friend mentioned - spare thoughts for others when you’re on the court, though chances & opportunities could be limited to each player. From Vincent – play all out because you never know when could be your next chance.

If your being trusted, show the rest what you are being trusted for and don’t let them down, emotions are always the main factor but that’s a challenge, mentality must be strong!

Spent the whole of weekend slacking & thinking through about what has happened for the past few weeks.

As Chinese saying, “lai de lai, qu de qu”. Sometimes certain things are just within our limits & it is how you actually grab whole of the opportunity given to you. So one question to you – how you treasure your opportunity?

Personally, I’m a person that grabs whole of opportunities but sadly don’t really know how to use it - limitations? That could be so realistic, & yes realistic is ruthless!

Currently our basketball team is putting up strong fights against other institutions for the annually POL-ITE cup. Although we won 1 but lost 2 matches but I could see that our team is gradually growing. Honestly I felt like I’m one of those that are really watching the team growing, partly because I’m benched. Not that it’s bad but I’m glad to be part of the team & experiencing something worthy – the atmosphere & emotions. Oh yah, being benched means I’m watching & experiencing.

As said by our Mr Benjamin Seow, advisor of Rp basketball IG, if you are a player, just play your game. In short, do your part. Yes, things could have been simpler if done this way but I thought that I’m one of the few minorities supporting this saying. Example – okay I know I’ll be benched for certain matches, so I have to support the team. I understand our main players don’t wish to see gloomy faces. They had tough fight against the challengers so they need morale support. No point for me going up to the coach & ask him to field me down; because they next question will be – am I really up to it? Of course you need to answer yourself truthfully – not up to it yet.

Still, I have to add on – if your being trusted, show the rest what you are being trusted for and don’t let them down, emotions are always the main factor but that’s a challenge, mentality must be strong! I’ve once told a friend, to achieve greater heights, along the way; pick up the right thing & let go of the burdens. Yes you might lose something very important but that’s life!

Basketball matters…

To “wonderers” – that particular matter left a very big impact on me & I chose not to trust anyone, anymore. Yes, life still has to move on…
